Vor zwei Jahren als Experiment ins Leben gerufen, hat sich der VJ-Contest zu einem festen Programmpunkt innerhalb des Internationalen Bochumer Videofestivals entwickelt. Dabei zeigte sich schon im letzten Jahr, dass sich die VJ-Arbeiten weg von ihrem Ursprung, dem Club, hin zu einer eigenständigen Kunstform im Wechselspiel von Bild und Musik bewegen.
Eingeladen wurden in diesem Jahr wieder sechs Teams aus Belgien, Deutschland und England, die ihre Arbeiten auf der großen Leinwand mit zum Teil Livesound dem Publikum und der Jury präsentieren.
Die Kür erfolgt dann Abends auf den Partys.

What started out two years ago as an experiment, the VJ-Contest has now developed into a fixed feature within the International Bochum Videofestival programme. Ever since last year, it’s apparent that VJs are moving away from their origin, the club, and into its own self-contained artform of interplaying music and images.
This year we have invited six teams from Belgium, Germany, and England who will present their works on the big screen as well partially live to the jury and the audience.
Freestyling then takes place during the evenings at the festival parties.
